Are you of the opinion that all pride is bad? There is one variety that is not condemned by God: taking pride in one of our own accomplishments or in an accomplishment achieved by a family member or close friend.

The Apostle Paul wrote this to the church in Corinth: “I have great confidence in you; I take great pride in you. I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds.” 2 Cor. 7:4 (NIV)

Also, in Galatians 6:3-5 “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. THEN HE CAN TAKE PRIDE IN HIMSELF, without comparing himself to someone else, for each one should carry his own load.” (emphasis mine)

This pride that is not a sin can become sinful if we begin to compare ourself or our loved one to others. Honesty with ourselves and with God is the key to maintaining the proper balance. Are you ready?
