The pride of self-sufficiency is one of the most common varieties of pride in the church today. We are willing to give and to help and unwilling to receive from others. Why do you believe that God would create a world in which we are not entirely self-sufficient but are forced to rely on one another?
One of the results of the pride of self-sufficiency is feeling that “it all depends on me.” This feeling results in believing things like: “If I just said or did the perfect thing, then that person would act right, or at least wouldn’t act wrong any more.”
You may be very good at your job; you may succeed (most of the time) at taking care of yourself and those around you, but you must continually be vigilant and stay focused on God or else Satan will eventually sidetrack you.
