The pride of superiority is based on believing that you are better than other people. It is the variety of pride that most people think of when they think of a person being proud. I have subdivided this week into four categories: wealth and possessions, age, perceived spirituality, and belonging to an inner circle.
Do you think that age brings wisdom?
Are you active in your church?
Do you read the Bible regularly?
Are you financially well off?
Have you accomplished a lot in your life?
Do you belong to an exclusive group?
Answering “yes” to these questions does not mean that you are filled with pride, but these are areas where you might begin to think yourself better than others. Quotes from the writings of Corrie Ten Boom, Jerry Bridges, Andrew Murray, Keith Green and C.S. Lewis, along with a variety of Bible passages bring to life the reality of the pride of superiority.
